European Laboratory for the Investigation of Food-Induced Diseases - ELFID
The ICDS, after having visited different continents, after 22 years will return to Campania, Italy, to Sorrento. In 1999 the ICDS took place in Naples. Since then, the interest in coeliac disease and the broader spectrum of gluten-related diseases, has steadily grown. Significant progress has been made in the understanding of the pathogenesis of coeliac disease. Cohort studies have shed light on the natural history of coeliac disease paving the way for prevention strategies. The realisation of coeliac disease as an autoimmune condition has had impact on new diagnostic tools and protocols. A growing number of clinical trials are being undertaken with the ultimate aim to obtain a therapy alternative to the gluten-free diet.
Sorrento 2021 will be the forum where scientists, clinicians, health allied professionals, patients associations and, industry, will meet to exchange knowledge and experience and to foster cooperation.
